Controversy: Rihanna feat. Adolf Hitler // “Holocaust Me Like That”

Rihanna is at it again!

Some of us thought that after she reunited with Chris Brown for two songs after he violently assaulted her in 2009, the Talk That Talk songbird couldn’t possibly sink any lower. Now Rihanna is making waves again by featuring Adolf Hitler on her new track “Holocaust Me Like That.” It’s from the first of six Rihanna albums slated to drop in 2012.

The jam, produced by Skrillex, has Rihanna purring over a dubstep beat: “I love it, I love it when you Holocaust me like that!” It also contains such controversial lyrics as: “Boy, you got me naked / Like I’m in your gas chamber” and “I’m fallin’ for you like you just shot me in the face.”

Hitler’s contribution, spoken in his native German, translates roughly to: “Shut up, you bitch, I’m trying to work!” repeated constantly beneath the chorus.

Hitler, of course, has been undergoing quite a PR revamp over the last half-century, but some still feel it is “too soon” for him to be invited to speak at the Olympics again (this summer, in London, will be his first major public appearance since the “World War II” snafu that made headlines in the late 30’s/early 40’s).

Naturally, linking up with one of today’s most iconic pop stars on the new single is meant to contribute to his image rehab, but some think Rihanna might be sending the wrong message to impressionable young fans with this collaboration.

“They can say whatever, I’ma do whatever,” tweeted Rihanna in response, citing lyrics from her 2010 single “Hard.”

As the fury came to a head once “Holocaust Me Like That” leaked on the internet to decidedly mixed response, Hitler tweeted up a storm — “Strange how we pick and choose who to hate! Let me ask u this. Our society is full of rappers (which I listen to) who have sold drugs (poisoning). But yet we glorify them and imitate everything they do. Then right before the worlds eyes a man shows how he can make a Big mistake and learn from it, but still has to deal with day to day hatred! You guys love to hate!!! SO FUCK OFF!!!!!”

The tweets were deleted moments later. A statement from Hitler’s publicist says a baby was playing with his phone and accidentally composed and posted the messages.

However, some fans believe the tweets are evidence that Hitler may not have changed that much since the genocide. Compounding that belief is Hitler’s Good Morning America appearance just last year, which resulted in the German bad boy setting host Robin Roberts on fire.

Surprisingly, the GMA debacle — which put Roberts in the hospital for first-degree burns — did not seem to damage Hitler’s popularity with young women any. “Mmm, he can set me on fire any day!” one young woman told Good Morning America after the attempted homicide. Another was more diplomatic: “I don’t know what happened back with that murdering six million people or whatever, but it was a long time ago. He was younger then. Who doesn’t do stupid things when they’re a kid?”

“We weren’t there,” she continued. “We don’t know what happened. For all we know, the victims were just as much to blame as he was. They probably provoked him!”

The sentiment is echoed largely throughout Hitler’s young, predominantly Jewish fan base. (“Holocaust Me Like That” has proven particularly popular at bat mitzvahs.) As Abraham Epstein, one of Hitler’s passionate supporters and creator of, wrote in a blog post in defense of the new single: “Should we really punish Hitler for the rest of his life for one simple action? Whatever happened to forgive and forget? Rihanna and Hitler are clearly over the Holocaust! Why can’t everyone else just move on, too?”

“You should see some of the things they say about me on the Twitter!” Hitler told MTV last year. “Hateful, despicable, monstrous things. It hurts! There is no compassion, no allowance for a man who has grown and changed to redeem and reinvent himself. It is the problem with America, this witch-burning.” He paused to compose himself, dabbing at his eyes with a tissue. “That, and too many Jews.”(PHOTO: Hitler in the studio, recording “Holocaust Me Like That.”)

It is clear why Adolf Hitler would want to hook up with one of today’s most radio-friendly pop divas. After winning a Grammy for his debut album I.N.F.A.M.Y. (believed to stand for I Never Fucked A Model Yet), Hitler is hoping Rihanna’s popularity will carry over into more public acceptance for his own fledgling music career. (Meanwhile, diverse artists such as Jay-Z and Miranda Lambert have publicly decried Hitler’s upcoming performance at the Olympics.)

But it remains a bit unclear why Rihanna has chosen to risk the inevitable backlash of this collaboration at this point in her career. The outrage has only fueled her to engage in even edgier behavior, such as goose-stepping for paparazzi in front of a London nightclub and wearing a Hitler-like toothbrush mustache during her appearance at the Brit Awards. Only Rihanna’s Twitter account can give us any insight into what the “S&M” singer is thinking:

“Haters gon hate, fans who dont lick up ‘HMLT’ obviously never wuz fans n da 1st place. #NOREGRETS,” Rihanna tweeted Wednesday. Moments later, Hitler himself tweeted, simply: “#NOREGRETS,” sparking speculation that the two may be an item.

A second duet with Adolf Hitler, “Suck My Swastika,” is already in the works.
